Wilson, but not Wilson

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

I’m taken with the show "House".  I think about why I like the show, but I don’t think I am certain as to exactly why I like the show.  See?  I can’t even explain it well.

This morning I watched the episode "Not Cancer" (via Hulu.com).  This is my first Saturday to sleep in since Harvest started at work, but I couldn’t sleep in.  Go figure.

At one point in the episode, House is in the lunch line, peers at a doctor, makes the doctor pay for his lunch, and then "joins" the doctor for lunch.  The resemblance to his friend Wilson was a bit unnerving.  I thought this would be the "new Wilson" as I don’t foresee the writers getting rid of this particular type of character for House.

I don’t believe the doctor is the new Wilson.  The P.I. is.

At the end of "Not Cancer", House puts the P.I. on retainer.  The enjoyable aspects of this new character is that he doesn’t really put up with House’s antics.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out in future episodes.
